THE ATHENA MUSIC AND LEADERSHIP CAMP WAS CREATED:

• To provide a comprehensive, five-day, intensive study for female middle and high school level musicians (winds and percussion), taught by successful female professional music educators

• To develop and encourage musical excellence through performance fundamentals, theoretical understanding, and music appreciation in a stimulating learning environment

• To offer insights to the music profession and advance knowledge and awareness of future opportunities in music and music education

Athena Provides a wide range of experiences 

ALL GIRLS SYMPHONIC BAND

Learn and review performance fundamentals such as balance, blend, intonation, and musicianship. Students will perform in a Finale Concert Saturday afternoon.

MASTERCLASSES

Gain a greater understanding of breathing exercises, tone production, intonation tendencies, articulation and performance techniques specific to each instrument.

FORUMS

Participate in discussions designed to improve self-esteem and leadership skills. Young ladies will also receive valuable audition preparation tips and information about music participation after middle and high school band.

ELECTIVES

Experience introductory courses in music theory, conducting, and music literature.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Enjoy a balance of educational and recreational activities throughout the camp "For Young Ladies Only"
